At approximately 4:00 AM on December 17, 2008, the Timberlake Fire Protection District was dispatched to a structure fire at 5751 E. Highway 54 in Athol. Units arrived to find the restaurant full of smoke and fire showing on the west side. Units from Spirit Lake, Northern Lakes, Sagle, and Kootenai County Fire and Rescue responded to assist. A total of 24 firefighters responded including 5 engines, 2 ambulances, and 3 chief officers. The cause of the fire appears to be a portable electric heater.
